LASIUS FLAVUS Colony of "3 Gynes" (Fabricius, 1781)

Easy to breed: One of the easiest species to breed in captivity, it adapts to almost any conditions.

General informations :
Queen size: about 8mm.
Size of the worker: from 4 to 5mm
No Major or Soldier
Absence of sting (does not sting)
Polygynous (1 to 3 queens per colony)
Longevity: Up to 30 years for queens and up to 3 years for female workers.
Individual color: reddish brown to black on top and yellowish below for queens. The workers are pale yellow to dark yellow, passing through bright oranges according to the age of the individuals.
Maximum population in captivity: approximately 100 000 individuals (limits its population according to the available space)
